Hello, world!

Coffee

I seem to have run out of excuses for not posting. The new web site is launched, the new product is launched, I’m no longer lounging poolside in El Salvador or hiking through cloud forests in Guatemala, so I guess I’d better start writing.

Where to begin?

Well, there’s that web site…

The new GreenMountainCoffee.com is alive and well, and some 80% of what it was planned to be on paper. It sounds trite to suggest that it’s been a labor of love, but it’s been just that. Oh sure, it’s also had its share of anguish and frustration and what have you… and as ever, about the time it was due to launch I was ready to tear chunks of it apart and start from scratch [what *was* I thinking when I built *that*?]. But that’s the way it goes.

I’m particularly pleased that we’re now able to offer about 200 times as much information about our coffees as we did before, including quite a lot of information about origins and tasting notes, and our relationships with the growers.

And there’s that new product…

I’m genuinely impressed by the new Keurig B50 brewer. Finally a K-Cup machine that has a form-factor that really fits in your kitchen, and offers features essential for brewing at home. K-Cups will never be for everybody… ’specially those who want to control all the variables of their cup. The convenience, however, is impressive, and so is the cup quality. Alt.coffee’s Randy Glass had some very nice things to say about it, and he’s known for not pulling his punches.

My trip to origin…

In the next few days I’ll be pounding out my trip report on my journey to Guatemala, and my accidental detour into El Salvador. For the moment I’ll say that it was a remarkable experience all around. It wasn’t so much what I learned as what I experienced. I’ll convey that as best I can… and share lots of photos.

So, avid readers [both of you!], thanks for sticking around. Your patience is amazing! I’ll do my best to live up to your expectations.

  • Hello.

Your author.Bloggle is the online playground of Doug Cadmus, a usability guy, writer, photographer and sometime dramatist who moved to Vermont for the coffee. When not writing, reading or walking his old, blind golden retriever, he roasts coffee in his garage and is the Web Guy for Green Mountain Coffee in Waterbury, VT.
