Just to follow-up, I'm doing just peachy right now. The blood thinner is doing its magic, I'm off the twice-a-day injections (yeah!!) and life is looking a little more like normal, even while the lessons of being all work and no play are still sinking in. ;) And, I've learned that I'm a mutant! Sort of. I have something called a Factor V Leiden mutation, a genetic trait that means that I'm more susceptible than the average guy or gal to getting blood clots. I've been more concerned about the risk for DVT than most of the weight issues. As I understand it, you can't really do much to prevent the problem other than getting out of the chair regularly.
