Bloggle is an experience playground of sorts. I make my living as something of an evangelist of the Customer Experience. It's been a long, strange trip. I had my first paying Internet gig in early '94. Prior to that I consulted with predominately Fortune 500 companies on networking and messaging technologies by day, and built dial-up bulletin board systems by night. (RemoteAccess, FidoNet, echomail... ah, the memories.) My first exposure to commercial online services
was as a subscriber to Compu$erve. RemoteAccess on steroids! My first month on the service
I ran up a $400 bill! Happily, my boss was understanding enough -- though I
couldn't talk him into springing for the tab. ;) Fortunately the
Internet was just around the corner. My daily efforts have slowly mutated from technical architecture, to information architecture, to usability and now the broader aspect of customer experience. While I thoroughly enjoy my work, I'm still a technophile at heart. This site, then, is at once a means for me to express my own ideas about the web and what it can mean to the people who use it, and an opportunity for me to keep my own development experience fresh and relevant. You're not likely to find cutting-edge technology on this site... no Flash animations, no 3D fly-throughs, and probably nothing that requires a plugin. You are, however, likely to find timely information about how real people interact with the technology that connects them to the Internet -- through their desktops, mobile devices, broadband services... and whatever comes along next. Let's see what we discover. -deCadmus Doug Cadmus |
